This beautiful catalogue accompanied the recent survey exhibition Opera, at the the V&A Museum, London. The exhibition presented a 400 year history of Opera through a display of costume, set design and manuscripts. For this occasion, the V&A collaborated with the Royal Opera House to create a journey through 400 years of this unique art forms history.
The catalogue is structured with chapters dedicated to seven opera premieres in seven cities.
The quarter-bound cover takes inspiration from a theatre curtain and reveals an image of an auditorium, printed on gold paper. The gold foiled title is set in Lyon, a contemporary serif with classical Renaissance forms.
